BASEES membership secretary: expressions of interest
Posted on behalf of the BASEES core committee:
The British Association of Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES) is looking for a new membership secretary, with current officer Dr. Peter Whitewood set to finish his term in January 2021.
The post, which runs for three years from the above date and is not a paid position, will be a vital one in helping to organize and manage the affairs of the UK’s largest specialist association of its kind. The secretary’s duties will be to monitor our membership numbers and curate the related records of the organization, liaise with other officers on the BASEES committee, and attend (either online or in person, when relevant) meetings of the BASEES committee, including our Annual General Meeting and any extraordinary meetings convened.
A good eye for detail and care are essential to fulfilling the post successfully, though the applicant will also have a say in the management and strategic decisions of the association, in combination with other officers. Familiarity with spreadsheets/excel is also useful.
To apply, please write to current President Dr Matthias Neumann (m.neumann@uea.ac.uk) and/or Secretary George Gilbert (g.gilbert@soton.ac.uk) stating your interest in the role.
